Mouse poop! and 29 weeks pregnant

So, my moms house has had a mouse problem before and my dad usually catches the mice and my mom cleans everything up. My parents went out of the country for a few weeks and my brother noticed mouse poop a few weeks ago, so my husband and my brother planned to clean the kitchen (where the poop was) today. I was never going to clean the poop or touch it because I’m pregnant but now I’m worried because I was in the room that I inhaled the poop particles and now I’m freaking out. My sister-in-law was also helping them and she’s also pregnant and In her first trimester, she wasn’t worried about it because the poop was definitely not fresh and she said it’s been there for about two weeks. The thing thats making me the most anxious is my husband vacuum the living room where I was in. Now we didn't find mouse poop there but the kitchen and living room are connected, I'm scare that he vacuumed the unknown poop while I was there. I’m told myself I wouldn’t Google this and just be carful but I did... I couldn’t help myself and now I’m in a panic. I can't sleep, or eat and I have been looking at videos with child disabilities because I wonder if thats how my life will be like... yea my anxiety is that bad...on the other hand my husband has told me this "Can't do anything about it now, what's done is done," That doesn't Help a crazy anxious pregnant lady calm down. I need people to help calm me down, I already emailed my doctors office waiting for them to respond.

You need support for your anxiety, baby will likely be fine !

Elleinad0 · 21/03/2022 18:55

Agreed with the above.
I understand that you're anxious but Looking at videos of disabled children is irrational and quite strange.

You need to deal with this anxiety.

Hopefully the doctor will be of help to you
In the meantime stay off the internet and do something relaxing.

You're being a little bit hysterical here. Speak with your midwife about your anxiety.

Fate88 · 21/03/2022 19:11

Yeah I’m done with googling, it always makes me cry, thinking about it

Is mouse poo vs pregnancy a thing?! OP, we had an enormous rat living under our floorboards for the whole of my final trimester with my second baby. Husband finally caught the furry little bastard when the baby was a few days old. My son is absolutely fine, the picture of health.

Try to think rationally: if rodent faeces posed a risk to pregnant women and fetuses, the human race would have died out a long, long time ago. Those critters are everywhere. You and your baby are going to be absolutely fine.

Definitely do speak to your midwife for support if you're getting this anxious and panicked - you don't need to feel like this.

Yeah that’s what I kept telling myself, but anxiety can be crippling. I’m starting therapy soon so hopefully that will help.

@Fate88 I struggled with anxiety and depression during and after my first pregnancy, so I really do understand how overwhelming the panic can be when it sets in. I hope things get a little easier for you.

Ok so you guys I feel a little bit more calm now. My mom said they had a mouse problem before it, and they were never mouse poop in the living room, and the vacuum my hubby used has a hepa filter. So by the off chance that it did pick up a poop, the filter would have helped. I emailed my doctor and will request a detailed ultrasound hopefully within next month and if everything is ok I can enjoy my last month of pregnancy. My mom is also coming back so I’m happy I’ll have someone to talk to about all this craziness, also I’ll be starting therapy this week and hopefully they will help.

Plus while looking online for some similar stories I found a lot of pregnant having to go through this and testing for it and baby being completely fine.

Ok guys the nurse emailed me back and she’s asked two other doctors and they both said it was ok, even tho I think they didn’t know much about it because it’s so rare. But they also realized how horrible my anxiety is so they offered extra ultrasounds. I’m gonna go get baby checked out.
And possibly get on some anti anxiety meds

Sooo you're worried about somehow inhaling mouse poo but not worried about putting anti-anxiety drugs in your body while pregnant Hmm

Fate88 · 22/03/2022 12:41

Funny thing you mention that, doctor suggested anti anxiety meds from the beginning of this pregnancy and said they were safe, I refused to go on them cuz of baby... but I’m at a point now where I can’t sleep, I don’t get hungry anymore, and I have panic attacks. This anxiety can’t be good for baby either.

Real helpful. Pretty sure the op will do what's best for her baby based on my the doctors and midwives think.
