So tired

I am 50 but always been in good health. I suddenly feel so tired, all the time. My arms and legs are heavy, like I’ve done a workout. My heart feels like it’s racing a lot. I feel breathless doing the smallest thing. If I do housework for a bit I need to lie down. I’ve been to drs (this only started a couple of weeks ago) I’ve had a blood test, normal. I’ve had an ECG, normal. What the heck is it? Never had covid btw, and had a negative lateral flow last week too.

About 5 weeks ago I started developing an intermittent cough and, was like you suffering from extreme breathlessness and related tiredness/ weakness. I mentioned this in passing whilst talking to a dr about another issue. All of a sudden, an appt was made. Long story short I had an infection in my lower lung and was prescribed 2 different antibiotics. Breathlessness better but still got cough. Go to your GP.

Peri-menopause, menopause can cause all sorts of issues, including exhaustion and heart palpitations. You are definitely in Peri-menopause, so I would talk to your doctor and see about HRT.

Noodle421 · 17/03/2022 18:26

I had similar symptoms to you. Definitely consider HRT, took me 5 years to join the dots to discover I was in peri menopause. Wished I’d realised far earlier. I feel way better in my 50’s than I did in my 40’s

Noodle421 · 17/03/2022 18:28

Probably good to get all possible reasons for breathlessness investigated too

Robin233 · 17/03/2022 18:44

Racing heart - menopause.
I could be sat still and feel it racing in my chest.

What exactly did the blood test check? It could be a vitamin deficiency which aren't always covered by standard blood tests.

LadyWentworth · 18/03/2022 12:06

Thanks all - not sure about blood tests. I did think it was possibly anaemia, with breathlessness and tiredness, but all results ok. They are being repeated in a month.

The reason I ask is I'm hugely vitamin D deficient and that has only just been discovered. I feel like I'm wading through mud most days. I'd definitely recommend getting a copy of your actual results to see what was checked. They can email them to you, and then you'll also have a baseline for next time they are done.
