I weeeeeeeed blood last night

I went into London last night to see a show, I had 2 glasses of wine before hand and then during the show the left side of my back started to hurt like hell and I was desperate for a wee, so I went to the toilet and had a wee and there was blood in it, it wasn't red red wee but very pink.
I was in so much pain during the show I had to run across the road and buy some neurofen.
I had about 4 more painful and bloody wee's dring the show and it has carried on today as well.

So I called the out of hours doctors who told me it was nothing to worry about and that I should just drink plenty of fluids.

This is the first time I have weeeeeeeed blood and it is not due to being that time of the month or anything like that, I know I most probably have a kidney infection, but I am worried about the blood.

GO TO THE DOCTORS ASAP

Misdee · 05/01/2008 16:55

i would be taking a sample down to out of hours. if you have a kidney infection then yuou need anti biotics.

paulaplumpbottom · 05/01/2008 16:56

I think you should see someone. Sounds serious to me

Twiggypiggy · 05/01/2008 16:57

Last time that happened to me, it was a really nasty infection and had to have antibiotics to clear it up.

It hurt so much to go the toilet that I cried every time.

Drank pints of water which obviously made me go to the loo more, but it does help.

I would definately get to see GP.

belgo · 05/01/2008 16:57

yes, you probably have a kidney infection, and you should so a doctor asap.

Wisteria · 05/01/2008 16:58

Probably is just a bad kidney infection but I would get a sample down to your own GP asap to be on the safe side.

Meantime drink water mixed with bicarb and copious amounts of lemon barley water if you can (and stay off the alcohol for a while)

Divvy · 05/01/2008 16:58

Cant believe you ahve been told its nothing!

Go get checked out!

Kneehighinnappies · 05/01/2008 17:02

stay off the alcohol for a while

I should get my arse down to the Dr's, I was a bit miffed at being told it was nothing, I think I should complain.

My friend had something like this with extreme pain n the back and blood in the urine. SHe was in agony. It turned out to be a kidney stone. Get to a DR ASAP

Flllightattendant · 05/01/2008 17:07

It can escalate very, very quickly if it is not treated asap, please go to the out of hours NOW or you might end up in hospital

YeahBut · 05/01/2008 17:08

Blood in urine is always something to get checked out. Go to a doctor!

Lomond · 05/01/2008 17:22

I have had this before with an infection. An anti-biotic cleared it up. NHS24 sent me to local out of hrs clinic to get one straight away.

gobsmacked · 05/01/2008 17:27

I've had this before and it was severe cystitis. If you can't get any sense from the doc over the weekend, I'm pretty sure you can get some over the counter remedies. It is bloody painful, hope fou feel better soon.
