Hi all - posted earlier today about DS1. Think he has a cold - slight temp., cough, sleepier than normal, not feeding great and doing heart-breaking little whimpers every time I put him down (he's 8 wks old tomorrow and ex bf).

Been to GP, said not to worry, use Calpol and keep an eye on him.

Mind at rest, we went home, but when I changed his nappy just now his poo was smelly and a nasty dark green.

Am now worried all over again.

Don't think it's a foremilk/hindmilk thing as it's not frothy or watery (sorry if TMI).

Does anyone have any experience of this? Need some reassurance! Thank you xx

Hi Sufi, I have heard that green pooh can be a sign of an infection, so I reckon you should get medical advice- your DS might need anti-biotics. (This may be a load of rubbish, it's just what I heard!)

Sorry this isn't very comforting, but I say better safe than sorry- you are the expert on your baby so if you're worried don't be put off phoning the doctor because you already did it once.

You can either phone the doctor, or NHS direct who are very friendly. I am always phoning them about my DS (12 weeks, you can speak to a trained nurse who will talk through the problem with you. It's horrible when they're poorly. Hope he gets better soon.

Thanks for that - will give 'em a call. He's really not himself and I'm worrying myself stupid!!

Can I be nosy and ask what they said? Are you feeling better about it? How is your DS?
