Abdominal Bloating and other weird symptoms

So for the past few years my stomach has been becoming progressively more bloated as the day goes on.
I feel so uncomfortable and like I am pregnant. I also have issues going on with my weight (I am underweight) and this makes me feel like I'm hugely fat.
I had an ultrasound of urinary trait recently as I have been experiencing worsening urge urinary incontinence and abdominal pain.
I am feeling nauseous often and just disgusted with my appearance due to how my stomach is acting. I have no idea what this could be and if my incontinence could be related.
Has anyone experienced similar? Just for background I am 22 and have never given birth. Thanks

Forgot to add, ultrasound was mostly clear apart from incomplete bladder emptying which they said they feel I should be referred to urology for. However GP is saying it's not necessary...

I would have thought they should do a pelvic ultrasound and also blood tests. Could be something gastric too, like IBS or an intolerance.

Did they check your ovaries and womb at the ultrasound? Incomplete bladder emptying can be caused by a blockage ie. Ovarian cyst or fibroids

Allaboutyou222 · 14/03/2022 22:26

Agree you need a full pelvic ultrasound.

Did you have bloods done?

ReesesPieces100 · 14/03/2022 22:34

Yes, sorry forgot to say I have had bloods done not sure what for specifically but they were all normal.
The incomplete bladder emptying is really bothering me, I almost have to lean off my toilet to get most of it out and I never feel completely empty.

Could the bloating be a gluten intolerance? Not sure if this would have anything to do with the incomplete bladder emptying or if that could be a completely separate issue . I had similar horrific bloating / abdominal discomfort for a couple of years but was back to normal within days to a week or so after cutting gluten out fully.

Are you constipated?

ScribblingPixie · 14/03/2022 23:24

Have you got other gut symptoms like wind or constipation/diarrhea? Do you get headaches & feel tired?

biggreenhouse · 14/03/2022 23:24

you say you have issues being underweight. are you taking anything / eating anything to "help" restrict your eating which could be causing this?

I do however get much more bloating than you just eating any bread / milk products.

Sorry to read this...

Hormones might be cause but also... Our digestion is just super sensitive.

Here's some top tips to help with bloating

  1. Chew (it's kinda the main bit of control we have)
  2. Walk after meals (15-20 mins - loads of studies have shown this helps circulate blood to the digestive system and also helps the muscles contract to get things moving an prevent bloating)
  3. No eating while distracted / on the move. Eat mindfully (helps with chewing too)
  4. Hydrate - we need 2L a day but your gut will thank you for it especially when you have your period
There's loads of great (and realistic) content on here too: www.gutwealth.co.uk/

Good luck!

Could you have a cystocele? This is when the bladder prolapses (to varying degrees). A pelvic floor prolapse of any kind can cause all of your symptoms. Hopefully urology can help you figure out/rule out what might be going on.

Hey! Did you ever get to the bottom of this? Currently have this too.
