Fed up with threadworm!

Feel a bit embarrassed to be writing this at my age but I'm seriously fed up! I would appreciate any tips!

In my 20s I worked in a preschool and 'caught' a threadworm infection. I had it once as a kid if I remember correctly but this was the first time as an adult. Since then and I'm waaaaay older now I've had threadworm repeatedly and am sick to death of it.

I do all the things I'm supposed to... buy the treatment, take 2 doses 2 weeks apart, treat the while family, hot wash towels and sheets, ramp up the handwashing etc etc... And it works it as always goes away. Only for a while later, usually a few months or so I get it again. I probably get threadworm about 2/3 times a year.

My son has only had threadworm twice (both times when I didn't and he was in nursery at the time) and my daughter's and husband have never had it. So it can't be that we are all constantly re infecting each other! And my episodes are always several months apart not days or weeks.

Are some ppl just more susceptible? Or is it a case of once infected, always infected? Is there anything I can eat or a suppliment that would help? I'm not a big meat eater at all but wondering if it's a food thing.

I've also developed IBS in recent years and have been hospitalised 3 times with gastritis since 2017.. could it all be linked??

I've got yet another infection and I'm feeling a bit down about it as it's making me feel like I'm crap at cleaning and hygiene even though I'm not! I just can't figure out why it's always me!

Hey there . Have you had any luck with this? I can’t see any replies….
I have the same problem as you. Daughter got threadworm for the first time age 4, I got it too and ever since I’ve had every few months. She’s now nearly 16! Both kids have had it a few times over the years at the same time as me but only when they were much younger.
I’m at my wits end with it. Hate it so much. Like you I’m not a terribly unhygienic person or anything. I just can’t understand it.

Hi OP, I've been in the same boat for nearly 10 years. Tried everything from changing the bed sheets constantly to washing my hands, stopped biting my nails when anxious etc. 10 years and the fu*** still have not gone away.

I'd guess that you are being re-infected by touching something that the rest of your family don't touch, and that you are noticing and dealing with the infection before you pass it on to the rest of your family. I wonder whether you could be getting it at work, or somewhere in your home that other family members don't use?

Hi everyone thanks for the replies.

It's an ongoing problem. Have had it again since I made this thread and yet again everyone else in my family are fine.

I'm wondering if they are living somewhere where the medication is not reaching. Is that possible? So the Ovex kills off those in the bowel but not elsewhere?

Or perhaps there's something I'm eating nobody else does.
