Red eye

Hello, I am a worrier so seeking some advice and reassurance please. I get eye infections quite a lot (I touch them too much, I drink too much). I developed a red eye about three days ago though but it is "next level" even around the area was swollen. I use drops, wet tea bags, keep the area clean and an antihistamine has really helped. It is so painful though, and so red. Should I just keep going with this treatment. Someone suggested A&E earlier which was kindly suggested but has frightened me. I can see out of it but it just makes me so anxious. Please tell me it will heal?

Can you see an optician on the high street? They usually have good knowledge and can refer urgently to an eye emergency department if needed.

Check the use by date on your eye make up if you get a lot of infections !

Thank you for your reply. I spoke to a doctor last night (sorry I should have mentioned) who said to use drops for a few days and then see an optician. I can't get to one tonight so might try tomorrow. Sorry I have just panicked as it just doesn't seem to shifting as quickly before. You are right about the make up too, thank you

No worries hope you get sorted ! I'd always advise any eye concerns to see an optician rather than a GP as they can provide a more detailed examination and can now often prescribe as well !

I didn't know they can prescribe so thank you. I will go tomorrow if nothing improves. Its just everyone has mentioned concern at work and its making me worry (though I know it is kind/concerned comments)
