Pain relief for inner ear infection

Hi all. Diagnosed with a severe inner ear infection today and given antibiotics. I know they'll take a while to kick in but in the meantime, any ideas for pain relief?

I'm in absolute agony and paracetamol only takes the edge off for maybe an hour and then it's back full force. I can't sleep and am bloody miserable

I'm currently pregnant so can't take ibuprofen!

The thing that helps me best is a warm compress on the ear, changed as soon as it gets cold
