IBS and imodium

I suffer with IBS. Usually I am able to manage it well with what I eat. I sometimes need tot sleep Imodium if I am having a bad IBS day at work and need to keep running to the toilet.
The problem is, I find my stomach is usually worse the day after I have Imodium and takes a few days to settle down again.

I am not sure how to break the cycle and wondered if anyone else has experienced similar and what tips you have.

I needed Imodium yesterday after having an upset stomach at work. Worked within 39 mins and was fine all day. Issue is, I’m now up and have a horrible IBS upset stomach again. Do I take Imodium again today or try and ride it out? (I have been caught short on the drive to work in the past) Blush

I find meberverine the most effective medication. Have you had anything prescribed or do you rely on OTC meds - meberverine is prescribed to me although I think you can also get it OTC.

I have horrendous ibs and find the only thing that helps is Cocodamol 30/500 which I’m actually prescribed for a different issue - lupus- but if I’m having an ibs flare it stops the cramping and bungs me up Blush Imodium does nothing to help me.

I take fibre supplements (Psyllium husk capsules) daily alongside Mebeverine before a meal. It seems to generally reduce the amount of 'urgent' days. Hopefully that helps, you have my sympathy.
