Lump in groin…worried sick

Hi all

I noticed a lump in my groin where my knicker line sits just before Christmas. I have a bikini wax and the reason I noticed it is because it was sore and painful not long after having one and I put it down to an ingrown hair even though I couldn’t see anything. I’m a bit of a picker so tried my best but to no avail.

The lump went down and then come back up again and now seems to have gone back down. It’s the size of a very small pea at the moment but was maybe the size of a chickpea at its biggest.

I went to the doctors today and although they said they’re not overly concerned they have sent me for an ultrasound, although I’m not sure how long I’ll wait for this to come through.

Just wondered if anyone else has had anything like this? I’m not sure what an enlarged lymph node looks/feels like or how big they normally are. The lump is quite hard and mobile, I can pinch it between thumb and finger.
The lump isn’t really painful although when it’s flared up a couple of times it’s been sore to touch. I feel it’s making my leg ache at the top but not sure if that’s all the prodding. Doctor mentioned it could by a cyst but I’m freaking out and dr google really isn’t helping ConfusedSad but very hard to stop myself looking it up!

I’ve had small lymph nodes in my groin for years, doctor wasn’t overly concerned about them. They feel like small kidney beans! Very occasionally they get a bit tender. At least you’re getting it checked out but probably nothing to worry about.

It’s very common to have cysts around there, so it’s very likely that’s what it will be. It’s good they’re double checking but I don’t think there’s any need to worry too much.

You could have an inguinal hernia which needs to be repaired. Therefore you need to see your GP again and ask for a scan .

Hi did you find out in the end?

It did turn out to be a cyst…I think. They did do an ultrasound and confirmed it wasn’t lymph nodes as it was too low for that.

Mine did come up and down, a lot of the time I put it down to when I was sick or if my knicker line had maybe rubbed on it.
A couple of months ago I noticed it was a lot smaller, harder and more squeezable, so I did squeeze it and stuff came out 😖

hope that helps

Worth saying that since I’ve squeezed it it’s never been back
