Apple,watch causing carpel tunnel syndrome?

I’m a keen cyclist and have been for years with no problem. I had a professional bike fit a year ago and nothing has changed since then so I’m happy that the handlebars are at the right height, etc.

Since mid Jan I’ve been having bad carpel tunnel syndrome in my left hand when I cycle. Starts within 5 miles and lasts a couple of days after a bike ride. If I have more than a couple of days between bike rides it does go completely until the next ride. But I’m currently in bed with bad pins and needles still in my fingers after yesterday.

So obviously I was thinking the bike riding is causing it and possibly it is which is worrying me as bike riding is my life. I’m really struggling on the bike as my hand goes totally numb.

But then I got thinking that I got an apple, watch in December, could this just be very gently and gradually be pressing on nerves and causing a mild problem which I don’t notice until I go for a bike ride.? Anyone else had this from an Apple Watch?

Well the answer is to go for a bike ride without the Apple watch and see whether you still get the numbness / pins and needles. You could always put the watch in a pocket if you cannot bear to be parted from it.

Yes it could be the watch causing pressure, it could also be that you are twisting your arm ever-so-slightly to look at the watch.

Yes. I’ll definitely try that. But then I also wondered if it was possible that the damage is being caused all the time but only noticeable when cycling. In which case not wearing it when cycling won’t make a difference. I’ve put it on the other side for now
