Hi,

I’m just wondering if anyone else suffers acid reflux? I had been under gastro and they discharged. I find that I can no longer drink alcohol as it affects my voice, but lately my voice is sore and strained. Which I wonder if is reflux! I was given peptac and drs keep putting me on omperazole but I’m scared to take the PPIs due to side effects!

Just wonder if peptac is useful on it’s own and what else I could do? I stop eating after 7, my diet there is a lot of dairy, water, and pasta!
If there is any other meds or tips would be great! :)

I suffer from silent reflux and I can tell when I'm having a flare up as my throat feels really sore on a morning and is gone an hour or 2 later and I strangely get a tightness in one side of my neck. I take lanzaprozole. When it comes on I usually do a 28 day course and then its ok for a few months (last course was November and just about to start another as starting with a few symptoms). When its really bad I take Lanzaprozole in morning and petac at night (I try not to do the peptac as I cannot stand the taste but it really does work). I've never really looked into the side effects as would unduly worry myself. I've never been referred to gastro though I just have Lanzaprozole on repeat and the doctor has never said anything. But I'd put mine down to diet I drink wine at weekends, love a diet coke and we eat lots of spicy and tomato based foods although a pretty healthy diet in general. I think its just one of those things- my dad suffers with it and some family members on my OH side do aswell, probably more common than you think.

@Holidayyys Thank you for this comment, I’ve never actually tried lanzaprozole, but spoke to gp today and getting more pantoprazole. I hope it helps as Peptac doesn’t seem to be helping it which I’m gutted about! :(
