Inflamed Cervix

I could really do with some advice from anyone who’s experienced this or has any medical knowledge. I’ve also posted in women’s health.

I went for my smear on Friday and the nurse said my cervix was inflamed. That’s all she said, no elaboration just asked if I had any abnormal bleeding or pain during sex to which I said no. She then say great, wait for your results.

It’s only after leaving alarmed at what an inflamed cervix even was that I googled for some info and some of the symptoms for cervicitis I do have. I have been experiencing some general discomfort and things don’t feel as they did but I put it down to maybe bath bombs which I use a lot or tampons. I’ve had this for about 3/4 months now and just thought I’d had a reaction to something but obviously shouldn’t have left it this long I realise now! Since having the smear test it’s become more noticeable, whether that’s a psychological thing I don’t know or the smear has aggravated the problem.

I have contacted GP via online consultation this
morning but just wondering if anyone has ever experienced this and what it could be? I have massive anxiety over internal examinations and even going for my smear test is very difficult but I always go on time every 3 years. I’m 35 and have had children and the same DH for 16 years so no chance of STD or anything.

If anyone could offer any advice It would be so welcomed. I am feeling anxious over what it could be and the potential further internal examinations that I will need.
