Weird reaction to alcohol

Not sure if it was a reaction to alcohol but it happened when I was having a drink of gin, mixed with some fizzy pop. One small drink, about half way through my face turned red and started to feel really weird, kind of numb but also burning sensation. My throat started to feel a bit prickly a bit later.

Never had a reaction to alcohol before, the gin wasn't new, opened it a few weeks ago and have had a few drinks of it, fizzy pop wasn't new either and had a normal drink of it earlier. Wasn't eating anything at the time. Just doesn't make any sense. I took an antihistamine and stopped drinking and it calmed down after a couple of hours.

I get that from alcohol sometimes. I can't work out what causes it, because sometimes it happens but mostly it doesn't . I have wondered if it's a combined reaction (with something I've eaten, maybe).

How odd. When I tried googling it all I got was results about Asian Flush but I'm not Asian and I figure that's something you either suffer from or don't, not just occasionally or just suddenly starting later in life.

I get this all the time. Really red burning painful face.
I have a couple of auto immune conditions which might be suspects. Also, sensitivity to sulphites?
