Dental maternity exemption?

Does anyone know what exactly is covered by the maternity exemption certificate in regards to dental work?
I have a permanent retainer fitted to the back of my teeth which I’ve had since I was about 15/16 (I’m now 30), but it has snapped in the middle so I can get my tongue under it and lift it now and food gets stuck there. Would this be classed as cosmetic, or would it be under general dental work? I have a 4 month old so still have exemption

Sorry can't help but a receptionist at a dentists might be able to just tell you over the phone?
