Painful Toenail - podiatrist help

Hi all,
Wondering if any podiatrists can help on here?
My large toe nail detached half way down due to a
Fungal nail infection about 6 months ago. I have had the fungal nail treated and the nail is now growing back.
The problem is - is it is unbearably painful when the nail is pressed. It’s not on the sides of the nail (like a typical ingrown toenail) nor is it red on the skin or warm to touch around. It’s when I put pressure on the middle of the nail at the tip. It’s eye wateringly painful!
Will this pain just be from the nail growing into the skin in the middle? And once it goes through that stage it should end? I REALLY hope
so as it’s very painful and the only shoesI can wear are trainers due to the pressure.
Any advice really appreciated!
