Thyroid function levels

I had a blood test a few weeks ago and was told my thyroid levels were abnormal but wasn’t told anything else. They repeated the test last week and I rang earlier but the results aren’t back yet. I asked out of interest what my levels were on the last one. My free T4 is 10.3 and TSH 6.8. The receptionist said they are only just outside of normal ranges but what I’ve found online says differently 🤷🏼‍♀️ I am feeling exhausted a lot of the time.

If they repeated the blood test last week they should be back, they really don’t take that long but not all lab reference ranges are exactly the same. maybe Google your local hospital thyroid blood test results, some hospital labs have their reference ranges online.

My thyroid blood test took around 10 days to come back but there has been a backlog at the lab. I’ve felt knackered my TSH is 5.6. I started a thread a few months ago and everyone is really understanding and helpful if you wanted some support over there www.mumsnet.com/Talk/_chat/4361405-Talk-to-me-about-under-active-thyroid-and-tiredness

Hope you get your results soon

@CapitanSandy thank you, the doctor rang today, TSH 6.6 and Free T4 10. She let me decide whether I wanted to wait 3 months or start medication now. I’ve chosen to start now, picking it up from the pharmacy tomorrow.
