Just after advice of where to lead my GP when I speak to them tomorrow.
Since 15th Jan, I've had an on and off low grade fever (varying from 37.8 to 38.4). Every time I start to feel better, within a day or 2 the fever returns along with various cold symptoms. PCR at start of illness was negative and retested a week ago and still negative. Spoke to GP over a week ago who said I'm probably run down and therefore my body is struggling to fight it off. Worth noting I take an antibiotic lymecycline daily for a skin disease but the antibiotic can also be used for chest infections etc. the cough mentioned in below timeline has never gone although has gotten better then worse then better again.
15th Jan - cold symptoms (sneezing, sinus pain, headache, body aches, cold hands and feet, runny nose), fever 38.4.
17th Jan - sore throat, chesty cough. Fever 38s. Negative pcr.
20th Jan - chesty cough. Fever stops.
25th Jan - fatigue, fever. Body aches. Continues for a few days. Chesty cough still.
28th Jan - chesty cough. No other symptoms. Fever stopped.
1st Feb - fever returns in 38s. Seems to go up and down. Can be 38.4 then drop to 37.6 then back up within a couple of hours without taking medication. Chesty cough.
2nd Feb - cold symptoms return. Runny nose. Sinus pain etc etc. chesty cough. Negative PCR
4th Feb - telephone apt with GP. Advises to see how I go till Monday and call back if no improvement. Suggested I'd caught 2 cold back to back or was too worn down to fight it so flared back up. Agreed to this as didn't like idea of taking 2 antibiotics at once.
7th Feb - cold symptoms gone. Chesty cough remains but a lot better. No fever but higher than normal temp although within normal range.
12th Feb - fatigue, sinus pain, headache. Chesty cough there but barely. Suspected fever but had sent DD to nanny's the day before for the weekend with our thermometer so couldn't verify. Had body aches, feeling hot and cold and freezing hands and feet.
13th Feb - still sinus pain and headache. Partner collects DD and am then able to confirm fever off 38.4. Body aches, freezing cold hands and feet. Usually by day 2 of a cold I'd have the runny nose and sneezing but nothing yet. Just sinus pain and pressure, and sound bunged up but can breathe through nose fine.
I'm sick and tired of feeling ill every weekend/beginning of the week. I've been going to bed at 8pm every night this week (usually go at 11pm) as I'm so exhausted but still having to take naps too. Not sure if it's significant but my heart rate has been high throughout each round of illness/fever. Resting is 80-90 (higher than my normal) but if I walk from bedroom to the bathroom next door my heart rate can easily go to 130s. Blood pressure normal for me. I have asthma but not felt wheezy or tight so not needed to take inhaler. My peak flow is worse than normal but not enough to worry and normal considering the chesty cough.
Should I be asking for blood tests to check crp at this point?
