Painful infected corn

I’ve got a lump on my little toe. Had it for weeks now. Looked like a blister to begin with but now looks more like a corn. Hurts way out of proportion to how it looks.
Tried chiropodist who thought it was a corn first and then thought maybe a foreign body in a blister so put a magnesium poultice on it. Still no better. Then whole toe swelled up so spoke to GP who gave me strong dose of antibiotics for an infected corn. So the infection has gone but I’m still left with a really really sore lump. I’ve currently got s corn plaster on it to see if that softens the hard skin into going. I’m so miserable with the pain. Does anyone have any suggestions to help me get this lump to go? I’ve bought anti-blister 2-layer socks and re-laced my running shoes to lock my heel at the back. Still the lump persists!

Running won’t help if you have a sore toe. You will be just causing the same problem again . You need to take a break until it has ressolved then look at the fit of your shoes / perhaps get a wider fit

I do have very wide feet! I’ve got the widest shoe the running shop had. I have changed how I laced my shoes (which they suggested but I stopped doing because it was hard to get shoes on!) which will help keep my heel locked and stop my little toe rubbing. It unfortunately rubs against the toe next to it even without shoes on!
I was trying not to take a break from running as I’ve just got back to some level of fitness but healing my toe feels worth anything now so I’ll take a break and give it time to heal. Thanks.

Thanks! I will give them a go. I have filled in a GP e-consult form this evening as my poor little toe throbs even when I’m lying in bed.
