Hi all,

So I had a tonsillectomy 7 days ago at the age of 31 due to recurring tonsillitis and one being swollen they wanted them out.

Anyway the past 7 days have been so so painful but today the pain in my Thoart eased off but now I've got such terrible jaw pain and my tongue feels odd almost as though it's tense

Anyone else experienced this?

Thank you

My DH had his out a few months ago and really really struggled with the pain
He eventually asked for stronger pain relief and recovered well after that but that was about 10 days post op

Give 111 a call if you are worried x

Yes. I was 35.
I was literally counting down the minutes to the next painkiller... never had pain quite like it (including 4 kids ) It's hideous and gets worse after a week before gradually improving.
Hang in there!

Oh it's absolutely awful isn't it I've had 2 children 1 vaginal delivery and 1 c section and they seem a breeze compared to this pain! Thank you Blush

I had mine at 29. For a few days to a week after I thought it was a huge mistake. After that it really improved. It is rough to begin with, OP.

I had mine out at 22 and like the pp I remember just counting down for my next lot of painkillers for about 10 days. Hideous op but at least now when I feel a bit tired or run down it doesn't turn into tonsellitis several times a year!

Hooe you feel better soon

I had mine out when I was about 23 and was off work a fortnight. It was grim. But if you are experiencing increasing pain and have an odd feeling with your tongue, you need to get medical advice really.

I found sleeping almost upright helped, stacked up on my side (on a towel for the amount of drool I seemed to produce! Blush) on plenty of pillows. That took the ache in my tongue away enough to sleep. What I didn't realise beforehand is that everything would be bruised, they have to clamp your tongue out the way.

The first cold I had after having them removed was a revelation! Every virus I had in the years before the removal had turned into tonsilitis!
