Does this sound like pneumonia

Hey all
Yesterday morning I woke up feeling fine but more tired than usual.
By the time the afternoon came around, I felt very unwell and my chest and upper back was very painful when breathing in/laughing/coughing etc. It feels very tight and painful.
This morning I developed a fever of 38 which does come down with paracetamol. I have no real cough, but occasionally can hear a wheeze when breathing out.
I have general aches and fatigue but the pain is all around my chest and back.
Should I get seen for this? I’m worried it may be pneumonia but I don’t have a cough?

Yes you need a chest xray and blood tests, it could be a number of things. Hope you feel better soon.

You need assessment and quick, as the PP says. Could be so many things. I hope you get diagnosed, treated, and feel much better soon. You're clearly not right :(

You need to be assessed.

When my son was young he had pneumonia, he had no cough. You need to be seen with the symptoms you describe.

Pneumonia doesn't necessarily present with a cough. I had it with no symptoms apart from feeling exhausted and spaced out (until I very suddenly couldn't breathe properly and ended up in hospital for days). Not trying to scare you, but get checked out.

Dh had pneumonia recently, no cough. He was rough as a dog, bad back etc.

I have had exactly what you describe for the last few days. I think it has been a chest infection. I’ve done Covid tests all negative and I have an oxygen monitor thingy that you put on your finger and that has said 99% so I figure I’m probably ok 🤷‍♀️ feel like shit though.

When my grandmother had pneumonia she didn't have a cough... no symptoms apart from a cold sore which the consultant at A&E picked up on as soon as he walked into the room. We called an ambulance as we thought she had had a stroke or something as she started acting really oddly. The paramedics didn't know it was pneumonia either.

Do a covid pcr

Lonelydaisy · 10/02/2022 10:03

Could also be a clot in the lung, get checked asap!

TheCatInTheChat · 10/02/2022 10:05

I presume you’re getting a covid PCR… and call your GP or 111 for advice.
