Tail bone/bottom pain

I've had a pain in my lower back, but it feels as though its inside my bottom IYSWIM. Saw the doctor and she said it was an anal fissure so I have some cream. The pain has been going on for about three weeks and hasn't got any better - the only way I can sit and work is if I dose myself up with ibuprofen.

Sorry about TMI but my poos have been a bit odd as well over the last few weeks - sometimes doing loads in a day, quite oily and pale, and sometimes only doing one a day. The GP gave me laxatives as she thought it might be constipation that caused the fissure, and since then I have just done one loose poo each morning. I'd be surprised if I was constipated TBH - I eat loads of veg, lentil soup for lunch, something like lentil curry with rice, chilli with kidney beans, etc for tea. I have started having scrambled egg for breakfast, can eggs cause constipation?

I've got another GP appointment booked but it's not for a couple of weeks. Does anyone know how long an anal fissure normally takes to get better?

I’m suffering from a fissure too right now and struggle to sit for work. Mine varies between stinging, burning, throbbing and a sickening ache that feels deep in my bum. Mines been going on for 3 months now and seems to keep opening up ( tiny bit of blood). I’ve got the cream too. Horrible things and so painful but apparently it is healing just slowly!

I get tailbone pain all the time, so much so I have to sit on a doughnut cushion and I flinch when I go over a bump in the car. I thought I had something wrong with my actual but but turns out I have endometriosis in my pouch of Douglas.

@Waxlyrically sorry to hear you're going through the same thing. I don't have any stinging or burning - mine is like a permanent dull ache and I can't get comfortable sitting in any position. I'm fine when lying flat or walking though. Three months?! Did your doctor say how long they usually take to heal?

@BottleOfSun just had to google pouch of Douglas - never heard of that before! Sorry you're suffering as well. Are you having any treatment for it?

You need to go back and get it checked over again. Seems to be going on too long and too severe.

Hi did you all ever get answers to the pain?

seasidemum1 · 06/02/2023 18:21

I had really bad tailbone pain, didn't associate it with my gastro symptoms but turned out I had ulcerative colitis and the pain was caused by inflammation in my lower bowel. With the poo symptoms as well it definitely needs checking, I would be pushing for stool sample and fit test.
