Rash under eye - does anyone know what it is?

I haven’t changed any face products so I don’t believe it’s an allergic reaction, and it’s only under one eye. Can’t find a similar image on a Google search either! Anybody know or had it before?

Could be periocular dermatitis or impetigo.. have you been around any kids with impetigo?

Shingles? (Suffering with similar which started with an under eye rash.)

Weirdrasheye · 08/02/2022 17:05

I don’t think so because I’ve had it for about a 6 weeks now and it doesn’t seem to be either going away or developing into either of these. Haven’t been around kids. But thank you for your suggestions!

Hello have you figured anything else out cause I have the exact same thing and wondering what to do to make it go away?

Raedyls · 26/09/2022 20:25

Hi, did you ever discover what this is. I have exactly the same thing for about 4 weeks now.
No irritation but seems to be growing as started with just one bump

I have the exact same rash, went to drs and got given antibiotics for Staph and a over the counter cream. Had it for weeks, it starts as little lumps, Serbs to blister a bit then get a bit dry

Sounds exactly like mine. Two pharmacies haven't been able to give me an answer so sounds like I will need to bother the GP. Thanks so much for the info x

Good luck with it, hope it’s all better soon.

Hi , have you discovered what this is ? I have it for months, GP gave me hydrocortisone, it gone away for the 5 days i have used the cream , but after stopping the cream it start reappearing again and i don’t know what else to do to get rid of it ☹️

Raedyls · 31/12/2023 14:17

I was prescribed steroid cream and fobbed off with all sorts of diagnosis. Finally after 10 months went to a dermatologist. She diagnosed periobital dermatitis and steroid induced rosacia. So the steroid creams made it worse. Put me on 2 months antibiotics and a cream. I also did sunbeds and it's never come back since

could it be periocular dermatitis?

I had it years ago. no obvious triggers. GP keep prescribing hydrocortisone which made it worse. You need some antibiotic cream. It started out on one eye for me and in the end, I had it on both and all over. was awful. the right antibiotic cream sorted or quickly in the end. I showed the link to the GP in the end as nobody knew what it was and how to treat it (other than cortisone which just made it worse).

DermNet® - Periocular dermatitis (Periorbital dermatitis): Symptoms with Images — DermNet

Periocular dermatitis is characterised by small, red, scaly papules and pustules around the eye and eyelid. Treatment may involve both general and specific measures using topical and/or oral therapy.

This looks like my right eye. Started more than a month ago - flares up, goes almost away, comes back. So far I’ve seen my gp and an optometrist neither really had an answer and my gp said to try cortisone
