UTI

Awake again at 4am with another UTI meaning I constantly feel like I need a wee and so can't sleep.

Has anyone found anything over the counter that seems to prevent these? It's driving me mad!

I've read D-Mannose is supposed to be helpful. Have you heard of that before?

D Mannose is very good and you can get it from Amazon. You can also get a short course of Nitrofurantonin from an online pharmacy such as Boots or Lloyds. It's more expensive than an NHS prescription but can be quicker and easier than getting GP appointment.

I am a regular sufferer and know the signs straight away but clinicians sometimes want you to to wait a few days to see if it clears up on its own. In my experience it won't. So tell them you've already had symptoms for a few days.

Do you think it could be this?

I apologize for sort of spamming you, I have been reading around on UTI's because I've got one at the moment.

It doesn't feel like cystitis, there's no pain on passing urine, I'm just left with the feeling I still desperately need to go even when I know I've just emptied my bladder.

I usually get them around once a month to every 2 months, but this is the second in a fortnight now 😩

Will try D-Mannose and will order some nitrofurantoin, thanks

Can I ask what sorted this for you?

Interested to read this. I've never had a UTI to my knowledge until recently. Three weeks ago started with exactly the same symptoms OP. Awake half the night with a very sensitive bladder and no relief when I go. No burning or pain so not like cystitis (which I had once 40 years ago).
GP dipped and said there was something there, gave me a week's ABs.
A week later no improvement so I went back. The oringinal test came back from lab as negative and another test showed negative. They have now referred me for an ultrasound.
It's actually improved today and I feel sure all along it was an infection but the test says no..
