Do I have subclinical hypothyroidism?

I recently had blood tests and my TSH is 5.1 plus I have antibodies present. Apparently I'm still within normal range. I've put weight on and often feel tired. Should I push to try thyroxine or am I better adopting a wait and see approach? Maybe improve my diet etc. What would you do?

I'd ask for a trial of a low dose as per NICE guidelines, re-test TSH in 8 weeks and see if it helps with energy. Unlikely to be a significant cause of weight gain however.

Tricky really, most labs will say this is borderline but I feel awful with anything over 2. Try to request a trial and see what the gp is willing to do. If they refuse ask for a retest in six months. If you have antibodies your tsh might gradually creep upwards.
