Has anyone ever been signed off sick from work when they have been due to return from maternity leave?

Have you been doing any KIT days at all?

MichelleScarn · 07/02/2022 09:01

Posted too soon! Is this likely to be a surprise to work?

Can you give more context? Have you broken a leg and need two week bed rest or is this long term?

WeyAyeMan · 07/02/2022 09:39

Interested in this as I'm in the same kind of situation

inheritancetrack · 07/02/2022 09:41

How long have you been off and why do you need longer. I'm sure if there are good reasons it won't be a problem

Yes my work were absolutely fine but I was suffering with PND and my manager was very understanding and supportive.

Yes, I got diagnosed with a type of cancer which coincided with the end of my maternity leave. Work were really good about it and took the view that while there was cover in place it was better just to continue like that until I was well enough to go back. They paid me in full for 6 months while I got treatment.

WeyAyeMan · 07/02/2022 10:57

Would you need to return to work for say a day, to end the maternity, then put a sick note in? Or could you just put a sick note in which would automatically end the maternity and switch to sick?

yogafairy · 07/02/2022 14:00

I had this. I contacted occupational health just before I was due back as I didn't feel well enough to return, then got diagnosed with rheumatoid arthritis. I was paid sick leave for 6 months until it was under control.

I'm suffering with PND and anxiety. Have had a huge amount of stress and it's hitting me badly.
