Can anyone help me with what could be the reasons for this?

How old are you? I am in a similar situation and I am 43. I have had some other symptoms so I was checked for being pre-menopausal but the result was that I was not.

sorry, meant to say, i'm 35.

Hormones up the swanny I guess! Usually it indicates:

(1) You are perimenopausal
(2) You have a thyroid/endocrine problem - you need a blood test to rule this out.
(3) You are actually pregnant but having breakthrough bleeding
(4) You're method of contraception is settling in and/or not working correctly.

In any case go see the GP for a blood test.

thanks whomovedmychocolate.

eek, it could be any one of 1 to 3, I suppose.

Hmmm 35 seems a bit young for being perimenopausal. My cycles have gone from 28/29 days to roughly 24 days, though it is never exactly regular.

Given that my blood test showed I was not about to have the menopause, I am not pregnant, I am not using contraception and I imagine I don't have a thyroid/endocrine problem, I suppose I am just assuming it is one of those things.

PITA though.

dingdongmerrilyonFLIER · 31/12/2007 14:40

it is a PITA, yes. coupled with the fact I am overdue with my smear test, I know I really need to get to the gp soonish.
