Breast Biopsy Results

If called back for an appointment for breast biopsy results does that make bad news more likely? Wouldn't it make more sense for it to be a phone call/ letter if all was well?

Were you told anything when you had the biopsy? In my experience and from what others have said the consultant gives you an idea of what they think ie suspicious or not, at the time of the biopsy. Waiting is hard, I hope you don't have to wait too long.

They said it could go either way. So not really.

I don't think it's unusual to call you back for results whatever they may be. I had a breast biopsy a few years ago and went back for results, it was a fibroadenoma. Last year I went through the procedure again but this time is was breast cancer. Both times I was told on the day what the likelihood of the outcome was and both times they were right. Please be reassured that most turn out to be benign. If you are diagnosed with breast cancer remember it is one of the most successful cancers to treat. The waiting is the hardest bit, once you know what you are dealing with and have a treatment plan you have something to focus on. Good luck.

Thanks. I asked on the phone if it meant anything that I had been given an in person appointment and didn’t find out anything either way. I will just have to be patient and wait until Friday.

I guess different hospitals deal with appointments/results etc in different ways. The next few days will be hard for you, try to distract yourself as much as possible. Let us know how you get on.

Hi @lostandmorelost I’ve just come across your thread through searching, and your story sounds similar to my mum’s who had a biopsy today and was given an appointment for next Wednesday afterwards. No indication was given as to what they think it is, so it’s been left at 50/50 but they have already given her an in person appointment. How did your results go if you don’t mind me asking? I hope you are well! xx
