Embarrassing Yellow Furry Tongue

As title says... had this a few years now. Mentioned it to doctor, hygienist nobody has ever been concerned.

Its furry looking, and white/yellow in colour. Quite a thick coating. I brush my teeth twice everyday and use a tongue scrapper but it makes no difference to the tongue. I have tried mouth wash as well.

One doctor suggested it was reflux, but I don't think I have any symptoms of this? I would have thought I would know? I don't get heartburn.

I've been told it isn't thrush.

Another doctor said its 'just one of those things' and that its normal for some people. But I'm really embarrassed by it.

Just at a loss at what it could be. I'm mid thirties if it matters, not pregnant, non smoker.

My mouth does feel dry a lot like its lacking saliva and I have mentioned this, but again, seems to be no concern.

Has anybody got/had similar or any ideas?

You could speak to a Chinese Medicine practitioner. They place a lot of importance to the appearance of the tongue. I had white tongue once and they said it was inadequate digestion.

Tongue scrappers are rubbish. You need a soft toothbrush with toothpaste on and brush the tongue everyday until it’s clear.

It’s diet related. If I eat a lot of sugar, junk etc it’s really bad. However if I eat really healthy then there is hardly any coating on my tongue.

It think this is sugar.
Whenever I have sugary stuff I get a white furry tongue, and it’s a bugger to get it off.
