Thrush Canesten pessary not dissolving

Hi all. For some background, I have been getting thrush almost monthly for a few years now (since I lost my virginity to my current boyfriend - he has always treated himself when I show symtoms) unless I am taking fluconazole which seems to keep it at bay especially when I do the 6-month courses. I got tested a few days ago and confirmed a thrush swab again (5th month in a row) so I have taken fluconazole and also did the Canesten tablet pessary. I used this on Wednesday night so about 4 days ago and my symptoms really haven't improved, in fact, it felt like it was getting worse. Then this morning when I woke up and went to the bathroom I felt the pessary fall out almost whole. Has this ever happened to anyone else?I have read that this can be a sign of vaginal dryness but I used multigyn gel a few nights ago to help with itching so surely this would have provided moisture? I am going to order the soft gel pessary and cream to see if these are more effective. For context, I have been tested for HIV/diabetes/vitamins/thyroid. I don't use any scented products, I wash after sex with water, don't use soap down there, don't take hormonal contraception or the copper coil etc. I feel like I have tried everything!

This has happened to me when I haven't shoved it up high enough but sounds like you have done that if it's coming out days later. You poor thing Sad have you spoken to a pharmacist?

@Sleepyquest Hey, yeah I think it was up there pretty high so I am really confused. I am completely sick of thrush! I have a doctor's appointment in a few weeks so will ask him!

@kittykat818 a lot of people don't know that pubic hair serves as a protective barrier and helps fend off bactiera etc. A friend of mine that suffered from recurrent thrush have found that letting it grow in helped prevent thrush from coming back. Just a thought.

I used to get thrush almost monthly! I found that it was due to the pill though however when I was pregnant I got thrush alot and obviously wasn't on any contraception so my doctor said it was hormones. I hope you've managed to get this sorted? It's so uncomfortable xx

Im surprised that no one mention to you how you can easily help trush to grow and be back again and again. Sugar - sweets, sweet drinks all that helping and feeding the trush. If you have problem with fungus infection - stop eating food which contains sugar for at least 5-6 weeks. It is all about diet.

I have this and as a result I get the internal cream pre filled applicator prescribed instead. It’s a tube with cream in and works a treat.

I do have sjorgens though - have a google of sjorgens syndrome. I have vaginal oestrogen- Ovestin cream - to use which helps.

@MeKatie I tried the diet for a few months but it didn't work sadly!

I had recurrent thrush for what felt like ages. 2as referred to specialist and it was a specific kind of eczema... basically the itching and the creams I was using to treat the sore skin was making everything worse and thrush was developing too (from what I can remember) steroid cream sorted the eczema and never had thrush again.

This Canesten cream definitely works. I recommend it to EVERYONE. After the first night I had relief and all my gross discharge came out all in one. And I don’t have to wear a pad throughout the day anymore. My life has changed forever -healthexpress.co.uk/canesten

There's some advice on the info leaflet about what to do if it doesn't dissolve, but I can't remember what it said, and yesterday was bin day, so it's been recycled.
