Been diagnosed with a Vitamin D deficiency. You may have ready other thread about symptoms but in case you haven't : cold, extreme fatigue, hair thinning, very low mood.

So bloods have revealed everything else is normal. Took first tablet today. When on earth will I start feeling better. I woke up today at 7am, went to the doctor, the shops, came home had lunch and have just woken up after a 2 hour sleep. It's ridiculous.

I’m on 2 X Desunin 800 per day and it was a few weeks before I started to feel a bit better. I had a blood test after 3 months to check my levels had returned to normal range.

Did you get a print out of your results? Your other results may be ‘normal’ but some ranges are pretty low and many women don’t feel well unless things like Ferritin are optimal, so the higher end of normal, rather than lower end.

I hope you feel better soon Flowers

I stupidly didn't get a copy of the results bit will ask for one on Monday.

Did you feel this ridiculous fatigue ??

Bone crushingly tired, plus all the other symptoms you listed, along with memory issues and bone pain!

IHeartKingThistle · 29/01/2022 16:00

It does take a while to get levels up. You'll feel better, just not instantly!

MananaTomorrow · 29/01/2022 16:02

When you will feel better depends on how low you were in the first place and how much vitamin D you are currently taking.

Did your GP prescribed the vitamin D or told you to get some and the chemist gave you whatever they had?

MananaTomorrow · 29/01/2022 16:05

Very often GP prescribe a very very high dose of vitamin D for a week. This raises levels quickly so you should feel better quickly.

If your GP told you to get some vitamin D at the chemist and they gave you some some with 400IU, it will do NOTHING as 400IU is what you need daily. It’s not enough to increase your levels.

Colecalceferol 50,000

So I’d expect a quick change in your symptoms.
If you haven’t seen any difference within a week (which is about the length if your prescription?) the id go back to see your GP

MirabelM · 29/01/2022 16:47

I've got to take one a week for six weeks

Then a high dose daily I think.

I've suffered, it's horrible. It can take up to 8 weeks to feel a real difference, but you will get there.

MirabelM · 29/01/2022 17:30

I really hope so. I feel so down. It's affecting everything.
