Anyone else just got no appetite whatsoever?

Just that really no appetite at all... jut not even hungry, even for my 'favourite' foods. Not COVID no other 'symptoms' sleeping fine, have tons of energy. Been about three weeks now. Wondering if anyone has had a similar experience and if their appetite made a reappearance...

You must ensure you get sufficient calories and nutrition or you’ll end up needing supplementary feeding. I do not have the ability to feel hunger permanently, never ever hungry or full.

Wow i never heard that before...is that a medical condition you have then? it's like i'm indifferent to food, so no desire to eat anything. Only recently too, over Christmas/New Year i really enjoyed all the meals and treats.

You might get better answers if you ask for this to be moved out of the relationship section and into food or health

Juletide · 28/01/2022 10:51

Are you anxious about anything?

tellmetologoffIamaMNaddict · 28/01/2022 11:53

I had this in lockdown. I had also come off my antidepressants. It was highly unusual for me but I was basically living off smoothies and muesli. I could feel the hunger in my stomach but just had no interest in food. It did go away but I can't remember how. I think I went on holiday and it got me out of the rut. It was very strange while it was happening as food has always been a very bit part of my life so to not have interest in it made me feel like I had become a different person

Naimee87 · 28/01/2022 13:03

@Electricbug321 Thanks how do i move my post?
Life's definitely chaotic but always has been for a long time... just seems odd to have come on all of a sudden.

@tellmetologoffIamaMNaddict
same with me! i've a massive sweet tooth but all my chocolates still wrapped up and my biscuit tin is still full! I do like exercise and haven't noticed any dip in energy levels or anything. I'm sleeping fine. But its getting to 4ish in the afternoon and i'm thinking surely i should want something by now...

I had a total vagotomy and total gastrectomy to avoid cancer. I have a feeding line in at the moment, which is needed every so often as a boost as I only weigh 40kg but hopefully it’s only temporary. They aren’t pleasant.

@Twolostsoulsswimminginafishbow

@Naimee87
Im the same, from sat to Tuesday did not eat a thing and I mean nothing, on Wed had a bit of broccoli some peas and and wee mouthful of pie, yesterday I had a packed of pickled onion crisps 🙈🙈🙈🙈🙈🙈.

Naimee87 · 28/01/2022 13:59

@Babyghirl so i'm not alone! Thank goodness!... funny selection of food you chose to try and eat. I got through half my sandwich... but it was such a challenge and it was my favourite sandwich too. So odd. I'm not on any medication or anything either which may impact appetite.

@Naimee87
Deffo not a lone lol, I norm maul my good dinners so that's why I made it but I'm always like this one min eat for everyone then I go through a phase of not eatting.

Twolostsoulsswimminginafishbow · 28/01/2022 22:08

Don’t be sorry. I wouldn’t be here without it. It isn’t something that will improve or change. I just want to make sure you know how easy it can be to slip into disordered eating when hunger isn’t a thing. Little and often is key. I also add butter, cream and cheese where possible to increase my calorie intake.

To get your post moved, use the "report" button and ask MNHQ if they would be kind enough to move it to an appropriate topic.

This thread does need moving but I'll get a quick answer in!

I had a gastric bypass in 2015 and its left me without appetite most of the time. What I find is that if I don't try to "open" my stomach in the morning, it's then very hard to eat lunch and tea.

If you can't manage solid food right now, smoothies, protein drinks and soups are your friend.
