Advice needed re antibiotics

This might seem like a stupid question, but I'm feeling a bit overwhelmed with all the different medications I have to give my partner, who has the early signs of dementia and is often very confused. He always has to take his standard (post stroke) medication morning and evening, that's not a problem. He's just had an outpatient operation and needs painkillers, paracetamol, also ok. Laxative 2 x a day, also ok.

But now he has just been prescribed antibiotics which should be taken 4 times a day. That's every six hours, but one of those would be in the middle of the night. So do I give him 4 doses spread out over the day time, say 7am - 10 pm? No guidance in the instructions.
It's 500mg Flucloxacillin

I would give 4 times in the day and not wake overnight

I always spread these out during daylight hours. First thing when I usually get up. Last thing when I go to bed. Then equally space the other two during the day. 7am, noon, 5pm and 10pm.

First thing, lunchtime, teatime and bedtime

Watch out for when he eats. DD was given fluclox yesterday and she has to take it an hour before or two hours after food, which does make it a bit harder!

Thank you all so much, that's what I thought would be sensible, but I was afraid of getting it wrong. It feels like a lot of responsibility for somebody's health, a new thing for me. I suppose I had it for two small children, in another life ....

Agree with above. Have some at bedside for first thing in the morning unless they say take with or after food.

Watch for diarrhoea after a day or so, you might not need the laxatives.

Thanks Fred. Oh dear, results might be explosive then ...
They say an hour before food, so first thing in the morning sounds right

I have frequent courses of Flucloxacillin and yes you take them an hour before food. I have one when I get up, one an hour before lunch, then again before dinner then at bedtime.
