Sinusitis

I’ve seen two GPs who send me off with antibiotics and sprays.
I’ve had what they think was sinusitis after Christmas. The traditional symptoms of that have gone and now I have strange symptoms left. I feel like I have a blocked Nose on one side and my cheekbone and around my eye on that side is sore too. Also my eye on that side constantly feels stingy and when I lean forward it waters.

Please help me. GPs just give me antibiotics and have referred to ENT (12 weeks to wait!). I’m miserable as I don’t feel well and fed up!

I've had sinusitis with the same symptoms as you . It can be very painful and other than regular painkillers I found the best way to deal with it was a bowl of hot water with vapour rub in it , hold a towel over your head and breathe the steam in . It gives relief and I'd do it a few times a day . Works better than anything else .

It’s the eye watering that I’m sick of! And it’s only blocked on one side. Fed up of feeling ill!

I have this too. Have been on the steroid spray for a couple of years but it's got worse recently. The thing that has really helped me is rinsing out the nose. You can buy stuff over the counter to do this (here it comes in packs of individual little plastic tubes). But I've found a home made one better - make it by adding half a teaspoon of salt and half a teaspoon of bicarbonate of soda to a cup of boiled water. You can use it warm or cool. The idea is to put it in one side and tilt your head and let it run out the other side (difficult if blocked I know but persevere). You could buy a Netti pot or syringe to get it in your nose, or I use an empty plastic vial from a commercial product). You need to use a decent volume - at least 20ml on each side. It takes a few days but makes a big different and apparently the salt/bicarb helps your nose absorb the steroids better.

It doesn’t even feel blocked anymore. It’s so frustrating. It’s just a tingly sensation in one side and the feeling like I’m about to sneeze. Aarrghh! One eye waters too! It feels a bit like hayvfever on one side x

Can you try giving up all dairy products short term? It has to be complete cold Turkey, not just cutting down on milk & cheese etc. the good news if it is rhinitis, caused by sensitivity to dairy products, the results will be spectacular and immediate. I had similar symptoms to you & was breathing freely & headache free within a week.

I think I had this last week. I put some Olbas oil on a tissue which I tucked in the neck of my top so I could smell it all the time and it helped loads. I also had a sore cheekbone and looked up facial massages for sinus problems on YouTube. Within 2 days I was sorted but I don't know whether that's cos it would have gone anyway, having been I'll for nearly 10 days, or if i helped get rid of it.

I'm sure you tried but just in case, Contac is very good Smile
