Itchy 4 year old, no rash, any ideas?

He has been sctratching a lot for about 2 days now. Mainly the area round his neckline/top of chest, and his sides below his arms. Tis very strange, no rash, nothing, he is well apart from this cough we have all had/got, and I haven't changed my washing powder.
My mum did some washing for us a couple of weeks ago but she uses sensitive stuff anyway I think, being prone to sensitive skin herself.?

Racking my brain here. Anyone got any ideas what it might be?

TIA!

from how you describe where he is itching it sounds clothing related, any new clothes for Christmas, or new dressing up stuff?

is it itchy all the time or only certain times of the day?

Thanks, well there aren't new clothes, not that he's been wearing anyway...it seems to be all day randomly, but I would say more when he's tired. He didn't seem to be scratching in his sleep last night.

I can still not find any marks or spots.
One thing, a friend brought a puppy round the other day, could it be an allergy to that? We have never had a dog in the house...but he didn't have a lot of close contact with it.

It could be due to the virus.

Does he have dry skin anyway? What about central heatin /hot baths - this can all make the skin itchy - it least it does with me and DD1!

Ah. Belgo do you know I was just thinking about heating, we've started to have it on 24hrs since it was so cold last week. ~It could well be that. Thankyou!
