So firstly I have quite bad health anxiety so I apologise if I sound silly but I'm really worried.

I have had a sore throat that started two weeks ago, hurts to swallow, aching glands in neck, sore to touch, red throat but no white spots that I can see. It's been on and off for two weeks and my GP prescribed Amoxicillin last week as it was over a week and not better. I didn't end up taking them right away as it stopped hurting for a couple of days and then today quite quickly my throat has become sore and it hurts to swallow.
So I took my first dose of antibiotics.
Now I'm analysing like I always do and obviously I didn't want to take the antibiotics unless I really needed to as it could be viral, but then I was worried about my throat infection not clearing up and getting worse and now I'm worried about taking the antibiotics and possibly risking getting C Difficile diarrhoea and stomach infection due to taking antibiotics 😩

Is there anything I can do to prevent getting C Diff and the good bacteria being killed in my tummy?
How likely is it you get it?
Please help calm me down 😢

It's most common in congregate care settings like care homes. If you're not in one of those settings it's fairly rare. If you do get it, there are AB that treat it effectively.

Take a probiotic with the amoxicillin and for a few days afterward.

I'm on antibiotics A LOT and have never had this. This is your anxiety talking.

Some antibiotics can cause nausea or some can cause loose stools but it's highly unlikely to be C Difficile . You need to take either the full corse of the antibiotics or not take them at all . Even a bacterial throat infection should clear up on its own .
