Verucca spreading….

Squiffy01 · 17/01/2022 20:34

Can anyone else me please

I have had a verucca or cluster quite decent area for at least 8 years, possibly a few years longer.
It started off quite small but as I tried to treat it it spread, have used different over the counter acid gel things and a freezing one. All seemed to do nothing and as I said it has only got bigger.

Last year I thought enough is enough as it started to hurt a bit and another one appeared in my toe I should go to a professional a sort it out. So did that he said if it has been there that long it won’t disappear on it owns they normally go by two years if they are going. There were three treatments available one was stronger acid which he said probably wouldn’t work as I’ve tried other ones and there is a risk of spreading.
2 was freezer again same as above.
3 was Swift Microwave Verruca Treatment which he said had a 75% chance of working and if it didn’t it would make it spread like other treatments as it doesn’t damage the skin. Recommended 3 had the three he said it looked like there were changes but it would take time to work. This was 7 months ago?? I don’t want to go back and get more cause it’s ridiculously expensive but I’ve just looked at my foot and I now have three more small ones.

What in the world do I do.
The bigger one is also get more painful not all the time just when I stand on it certain way.
Please help will to try anything.

Did he suggest micro-needling at all?
I'm wondering because it is also a possible treatment.
I feel sorry for you - I had a group of over 40 on the ball of my foot and my GP wouldn't treat them, so referred me to hospital (this was years ago, so may not happen now). Luckily mine disappeared by the time of the appointment, but I still attended to make sure they were gone.
Have you asked your GP? If is painful enough to impact your life, there should be some NHS help, or at least guidance. They might also want to investigate your immune system if they've been there that long.
Good luck!

Try a silver nitrate pen. Dd had several including a cluster, neither freezing nor gel got rid. Silver nitrate plus filing got rid in around 2 weeks!

So, bare with me on this! Banana skin. It was something my nana taught me when I suffered with veruccas. So cut a piece of banana skin and place over the area, secure with a plaster and have a sock on, wear it overnight. Mine went within a couple of weeks, it’s a bit gross but none of the medications worked and this did, it then worked when I was pregnant with my youngest. Hope you get it sorted!

My DS had needling for a large mosaic (cluster) Verruca two years ago. It’s not cheap, it cost £240 with consultations but it was like magic and cleared up all his other little verrucas around his feet as well wiithin the space of about three weeks.

If it’s not something you’re familiar with you can google it, it’s all about waking up your immune system to “see” and attack the verruca

If you are north of England I can make a recommendation; It’s important to get a good practitioner to get the needle depth right and pain block the foot properly for the treatment

I’m going to say cider apple vinegar. We filed (fresh emery board each night) them gently (cluster) and then taped cotton wool in vinegar to his foot over night. Took it off did his day etc then filed and vinegared before bed again. Started to change within a week and went quite quickly considering how long they’d been there.

Change your chiropodist. It shouldn't take that long to sort it with the treatments they have.

bkyyy · 17/01/2022 21:12

Initially I did the taping but it wouldn't stick, then put nail polish on it for weeks, soaked in bath, filed with a mother scrubber file, clipped bits off with nail clipper things, repeated it as much as possible eventually it all went black and fell off. Had it for about 4 months, realise yours is probably worse/bigger. There's a good thread in sporner corner which helped me

I had an enormous one for nearly 10 years. Tried the nail varnish, ACV, masking tape, banana peel, bazuka, pickles ointment, freezing, everything.

Eventually tried a scholl verruca pen and it was gone in 2 months.

Whattochoosenow · 17/01/2022 21:42

Bazooka extra strong with a plaster over the top. Cut the dead tissue away with a blade before applying the next layer. It’s really satisfying when you can lift the root out with a needle ( but then I love poking at things!)

I second the banana skin, I used duct tape to fasten it to DDs foot at night, she had some very nasty ones in a cluster which freezing had failed to remove. Banana skin worked in about a week.

Thanks all.
Sorry wasn’t notified that anyone had posted.
Lots of things to try. Shall work through the suggestions and see if anything happens.
