dd1,dd2,me,my mom and dad.

My parents also have aches and feel very rough.

dd2 has been so quiet today and has actually sat on our laps quietly which she has never ever done so she must feel bad.

God i hope it doesn't get any worse than this

Me, sick as a sick thing . Still haven't had Christmas dinner. DH is recovering faster but still has a bad cough. I haven't got off the sofa all day.

My BIL and SIL had it for 6 weeks

expatinscotland · 26/12/2007 22:13

EVERYONE but DH, a smoker, has it in this house.

It has kept us sleepless for three nights.

DD1 is coughing AGAIN, despite the Medised.

SOB!

XmastimePelvicfloorsandWine · 26/12/2007 22:16

Lapin- but congrats on winning

Expat- As if you don't have enough to cope with ?
How strange re the smoker,my dp has escaped it and is a smoker.

Really sorry to hear that. Dh has had some fluey thing (genuine not man flu) for over a week. Got a tiny bit better then relapsed. High temp, shaking shivering needs paracetamol and nurofen up to max doses - we are running out fast.

dd1 - almost 4 - refused Christmas dinner (unheard of) and has temp - only baby nurofen helps. Can't won't eat other than the odd mouthful.

Me; croaky throat for past 6 days but no other symptoms yet...

dd2, 4 months, posseting/sicking loads, I think due to mucus and ongoing cold.

Seems to be a real year for horrid viruses. Also know loads of people like Lapin with the sicky virus too.

KITTYmaspudding · 26/12/2007 22:18

Oh God, everynight I've been dosing them up with 2 shots of calpol, I shot of benylin and 1/2 shot of piriton to dry up the mucus and aid sleep.
I would say that this has been going on in various forms since the end of November.
{{hugs}} to all the fellow sufferers

expatinscotland · 26/12/2007 22:18

It just sucks! I mean, poor wee ones!

It was last night about 1AM that dd2 started to fall ill with it.

Knew it was just a matter of time, because dd1's nursery was absolutely heaving with it.

Thing is, she'll get better, go back to nursery next week, and catch something else.

As if dd1 needed to lose MORE weight!

Gawd, she's a twiglett and tall for her age as it is.

expatinscotland · 26/12/2007 22:19

Kitty, I might try your remedy.

The Medised isn't cutting it with dd1.

But I've got some Piriton in the cupboard.

TenLordsaLapin · 26/12/2007 22:20

Oh I'm not sick, just ill sick. Sorry if there are any emetophobes on here!

My poor niece has just recovered from PLEURISY!

KITTYmaspudding · 26/12/2007 22:21

Expat, Piriton is really ace for drying up mucous, another good med is Tixyilix cough and cold, not the other tixylix, just that one

onepieceoflollipop · 26/12/2007 22:21

Expat if Kitty's remedies don't help, and your dc have a temperature, try the baby Nurofen.

We noticed that Calpol and Medised haven't helped our dd and they usually do. Half an hour after the nurofen she perks up for about an hour and I use that time to try and get her to eat/drink a tiny bit and I turn off the tv for half an hour. Then she gets all listless again til the next dose.

expatinscotland · 26/12/2007 22:23

Tried Tixylix last night.

She was still up, poor kid!

Finally she and I went down at 5.52AM.

Now dd2 is down.

Might do Piriton later on tonight.

It will have been about 8 hours since her last Medised dose.

expatinscotland · 26/12/2007 22:24

She gets a really low-grade fever, about 38-39 degrees, that comes and goes.

I've got it, too.

Fecking tide is so high, too, with the last full moon, that walking on the beach is out.

KITTYmaspudding · 26/12/2007 22:26

It's a bummer

expatinscotland · 26/12/2007 22:29

Thanks for the tip, though, Kitty, I didn't think of the Piriton.

It might indeed help.

She's over the really phlegmy cough.

Mine's still quite phlegmy.

Jacksmybaby · 27/12/2007 13:14

Hi there all, just to throw a spanner in the works, the pharmacist told me not to give DS medised (he's on ABs and ventolin for awful chesty/wheezy cough) as the antihistamine in it might exacerbate the asthmatic symptoms... so if any of your DCs' coughs are chesty/wheezy, might be worth checking with your pharmacists also before giving either medised or piriton etc. Calpol ok apparently.
My sympathies to you all and your LOs.

Merrymissychristmas · 27/12/2007 23:10

Sorry to hear you are all sufering.

I find steam helps dd's cough. I bought a face sauna and sit her quite near it and it soothes the cough for a while. Also the Sudafed plug ins are effective at night.

Also I have been giving dd ecinachea tincture to improve her immune system as she has had one thing after another.

Hope this helps and that you are all feeling better soon.

expatinscotland · 27/12/2007 23:21

Took DD1 in to the doc today. She's got an ear and throat infection.

Am hoping she gets some rest tonight.

I'm going to down some Piriton myself because I can't stop sneezing and my eyes are killing me.

Ow!

KITTYmaspudding · 28/12/2007 10:12

Hope things improve quickly Expat
