Lower back and pelvic mri

I have my first mri tomorrow, and my only experience of these scans is DD’s brain scans where obviously I’m the anxious parent rather than an anxious patient.

Could anyone give me any tips on what to do/what not to do please? Best things to wear, will I be in a gown, are hair bobbles ok?!

I had an MRI a couple of weeks ago. Wear something you can change out of easily. You’ll have to get changed into a gown and make sure you don’t have any metal work in your underwear and remove all jewellery. Hair bobbles are okay if they don’t have metal in them. I was given headphones with the radio on to listen to. It’s loud but not too bad. I had a head and neck one once which was very loud because obviously you’re right inside the machine! I just tried to relax my breathing and I got through them okay.

Thanks @ThisWormHasTurned for your reassuring words. Scan wasnt as bad as I feared - i didnt even need to remove my clothes, just my bra. It was very long (even the radiographer commented how long it was) as they were scanning three separate areas, but as long as I kept my eyes closed I was able to focus on my breathing as you suggested. No offer of any music though, although I did find the rhythmic beating of the machine strangely soothing!

Thanks again Flowers

Ah I’m glad it went okay. You’re very welcome for the help.
