Anyone had surgery for very short sight?

I am -9.5 and dabbling with the idea of surgery. It'll either be laser or where they insert a contact lens.

Anyone had it done and do you know if Bupa is an option?

My brother has his eyes done and is really pleased with the result. Not sure how bad his eye sight was, but it was bad. He'd worn glasses for as long as I can remember.
