Bless my dd she has been a trouper today and just been up to check on her and noticed she has yellow gunk coming out of her ear. Her 5th ear inf in as many weeks. Cant imagine docs surgery open tomorrow but do people agree cant really leave till 27th when docs re-open as it is a coloured discharge so need to go up to on call doc at hosp. My dh and I are debating this at the min.

Go to the on call doc - the sooner she gets antibiotics the sooner it'll start to heal. Poor thing. A warm hot water bottle next to the ear can help with the pain.

Poor child. I would take her up to the emergency doc. She needs antibiotics otherwise her hearing could be damamged.

Has she got a referal to ENT? Perforated ear drums are horrendous. It really sounds like she could do with grommets or possibly her adenoids being taken out.

My son suffered 5 perforiations of his ear drums as a baby.

We were in yesterday with ds2 who has an ear infection. I would take her in.

I think I will def take her in. As it happens I have an appt on 28th to discuss referral and I think considering how many she has had in the last few weeks she has got to be referred. Really worried about her hearing being damaged.

You legally can demand a referal even if your GP disagrees with you. How old is your dd? Is her speech being affected?

A Humidifer with a few drops of oil of olbas will help her breathing. We got ours from Argos several years ago.

I would suggest proping up the head end of the cot/bed and giving medised instead of calpol. The antihistamine will help clear the ears of gunk.

She is 18mths.
