Why do I smell after washing?

This is driving me insane! I'm 32 years old, never smelled "bad" before.

I've noticed my underarms have been smelling of BO over the last few days Envy-- not envy.

So, last night I had a bath and made sure to clean VERY WELL. Then I had a shower this morning and again made sure I was super clean. I put on a freshly washed bra and a brand new top.

While I was drying my hair, so about 30 minutes later, I noticed a BO smell from my underarms. WTF?

Does anyone have any idea what could be causing this? And so quickly? It's so weird.

Are you sure it’s not your clothes? Have you been stressed recently? I have a special sort of horrible sweat with stress that likes to hang on to clothes after laundering. The clothes smell fresh as anything after washing/ storing as usual. Put ‘em on and 10 minutes (or an hour later) BAM they’re activated or something. Awful.

Soak the pits with white vinegar and wash as hot as the fabrics allow. Sorted.

Sorry to hear about your miscarriage OP, yes could be hormonal , I like mitchum it definitely keeps me fresh.

OwlBasket · 07/01/2022 18:01

X post. I’m so sorry to hear of your loss 🌷

Whatwillbetheendofus · 07/01/2022 18:01

I think it could be as others have said your clothes. Try soaking the underarms (of the clothes, not yours!) in white vinegar before washing them and see if it helps.

I’m just checking that you haven’t accidentally bought one of these “Dove 0%”? I did the same and it’s just deodorant, not anti-perspirant so looks similar but ultimately useless.

I'm so sorry for your loss. I had the same problem after a miscarriage, and dry skin, oily hair etc. Your hormones should settle in the next few days or weeks. In the meantime, a stick deodorant might form more of a barrier.

I also find dove deodorant, and alL spray deodorants not good enough

Lollypop701 · 07/01/2022 18:57

Soap not body wash … body wash leaves a film which stops deodorant working as well

purplesequins · 07/01/2022 18:58

you are not pregnant are you?

Fanofcrisps · 07/01/2022 19:00

I also use mitchum. It's the best deodorant I've ever used. I think the most likely cause though is your clothes not having washed properly. Could your machine be on the blink?

Beer2bed · 07/01/2022 19:02

Same problem here if I wear certain tops. I've now started using mens sure antiperspirant and it does the job.

JosephineDeBeauharnais · 07/01/2022 19:07

As others have said, unscented soap not shower gel, and make sure that you apply your deodorant around the top of your arms as well as in the pits - the sweat glands are quite extensive. I find that my pits smell less than the area immediately around them so I use a roll-on (Mitchum) and make sure I cover the whole area.

NeverDropYourMooncup · 07/01/2022 19:12

A week of bathing with Hibiscrub should deal with all bacteria and yeasts that could be causing the smell.

In addition, washing clothes with biological powder (after cleaning the washing machine) and possibly a Dettol rinse or white vinegar to deal with anything in the clothing should help.

Sorry for your loss. Perhaps your sense of smell is still enhanced and you don’t really smell that bad. I remember smelling that I’d left the bread unwrapped from the next room.

Haggisfish3 · 07/01/2022 19:17

I find it worse if I don’t shave my armpits. I also prefer roll ons to sprays for effectiveness.

MrsMoastyToasty · 07/01/2022 19:25

When I have left clothes I the washing machine too long they start to smell musty. As soon as I have ironed them they smell awful.

irene9 · 07/01/2022 19:57

The Mitchum roll on. You'll never use anything else. And it lasts for ages too.

overthehillmummy · 07/01/2022 23:41

Another vote for Mitchum roll on! If I try anything else I stink!

Squirrelonwheels · 08/01/2022 19:32

Sorry for your loss OP Flowers I would guess it’s definitely hormonal as before I read the thread I was going to ask if you could be pregnant - I had the same thing x

LittleRen · 08/01/2022 19:36

I really have to scrub my pits now.. I am 36. I noticed I was starting to get smelly pits during the day and it was because I simply wasn’t washing enough. I use a bar soap under my arm.

Sorry for your loss Flowers

Thatldo · 09/01/2022 06:17

Nobody has mention this here, but if you have severe anxieties, this can smell. No washi g and scrubbing would get rid of anxiety odour. Are you very anxious at the moment?Has anything changed in your life?

YukoandHiro · 09/01/2022 06:19

I have to use Sure or Mitchum otherwise I have this problem
