Ramipril cough

I have recently been diagnosed with high blood pressure and have been prescribed ramipril 😕 I started pills on 2nd December, and came down with a rotten cold on 14th December. Have definitely had a cold for the first week or two, but am still coughing now 3 weeks on. It's quite dry and tickly and when it starts I can't stop it.

Someone has now mentioned to me that Ramipril can cause coughing as a side effect. Has anyone else had this? A quick google seems to say "some people" can experience a cough, but then goes on to say it should ease as the body gets used to the medication. Wondering whether it is worth persevering, whether it is just the tail end of a stinky cold or whether I'm stuck with it unless I change medication 🤔

Yes I had this with Ramipril and have now changed to different medication. Cough went within a week.

I had a ramipril cough and it went in a few weeks, however I am on a teeny weeny dose (1.25mg as I need it for my heart but have really low blood pressure).

I had this and had to change to different medication

I was prescribed it after a 'stroke like event' and got the cough immediately. It went just as quickly once they changed for something else

I had this. It did not improve. It was horrible. I was switched to losartan and it took several weeks for the cough to go.

I've been on Micardis plus (Telmisartan) for 18 years (since DS was born) and I've never experienced any side effects.
