So Iv been to the doctors .. Iv been having more gas recently and going to the toilet and stomach rumbling . I explain to the doctor that I am stressed and my anxiety the moment is very high . She suggested that ibs , even though I don't have any pains ?? She also said stress and anxiety can cause my symptoms ... there's no blood in my poo or anything which I suppose is a good thing . My question is can stress trigger ibs ? And does ibs always mean pain in the stomach or is everyone's ibs different ?

I have had IBS for 23 years. The last 5 years of my life have been very stressful and my gut symptoms have become so, so much worse during this time. I don’t get a lot of pain but get awful gurgling/growling/rumbling guts, so gassy up and down, bloating especially in the evenings, nausea, acid indigestion, I am IBS mixed so suffer from constipation and diarrhoea and needing the loo more frequently. I have had a gastroscope, colonoscopy, ultrasound scans, a ct scan and all come back as IBS.
I think that various things cause my issues such as my cycle, certain foods (I now follow the low fodmap diet for IBS), lack or too much sleep but stress is definitely one of the biggest contributors.
There are several gut directed hynotherapy clips on YouTube which are good to listen to throughout the day.
Sorry you are suffering, IBS is horrible.

I also am on various IBS support groups on Facebook and I can definitely say that IBS has many different symptoms, pain isn’t always one.

Sorry, me again lol I should add that due to the gassiness I am looking into seeing if I may have SIBO, it’s a bit controversial with many NHS gastroenterologists but several I have seen recently say it may be a possibility. It’s Small Intestinal Bacteria Overgrowth if you want to Google?

Iv just looked at the symptoms of this , I think this is what I could have ! It stated ever since I got a stomach bug . Hoping docs can just give me antibiotics over the phone with my symptoms without having to go in . Thankyou , I'm not bloated or anything just constant stomach noises and burping and farting Confused

Mine is a lot worse when I'm anxious. I'm medicated for my anxiety and it's made a huge difference.

Iv been put on medication but had to stop due to side effects Confused don't know if it's my anxiety making my stomach problems worse , Iv never really had this apart from when I was in school years and years ago !

IBS is a diagnosis given for "dodgy guts" when everything else has been ruled out.
You should ask to be checked for:
Gallbladder issues
H. Pylori
Etc etc.

victoriaaaa I hope you find someone who will agree to give you the antibiotics sadly I have had so much trouble finding a doctor who will acknowledge SIBO, it’s a nightmare. I did see a private gastroenterologist who recognised it and said he could prescribe me the Rifaximin but I just couldn’t afford it at the time. I am seeing a naturopathic practitioner tomorrow and am really pining my hopes that she will help me.

Hey op, it's worth trying another as not all suit everyone. For example, prozac makes me vomit but citalopram keeps me sane.

Hi Victoriaaaa, just wondered how you were doing? i have similar symptoms and wondered if you had found anything that helps with this. All the best x
