Overactive thyroid?

I have been feeling off-colour for a while. Christmas time has been a bit tough so kind of assumed it could be anxiety related but now wondering if I have a overactive thyroid?

Symptoms are…

Irregular heartbeat, often a heart rate over 100bpm which causes me to feel dizzy.

I feel on edge all the time but also unable to sit still or rest.

I woke up in the night in a cold sweat.

Not been able to sleep mainly due to the racing heart and not being able to stay still.

I feel exhausted.

Have had a few head aches and my vision seems blurry at times (I do wear glasses but my eye sight seems worse at times).

I am otherwise fit and healthy, I don’t smoke or drink and I’m not overweight. I have been feeling a bit low and tearful but unsure if this is caused by what ever is going in or my anxiety is causing my symptoms?

Could it be my thyroid?

Short answer yes

I have graves disease and those are a lot of my symptoms including the anxiety

Have you had any weight loss recently? Fingers and ankles swelling?
How is your throat?

Yes. Just go to the doctors and ask for a thyroid blood test. Don't let them fob you off!

No big weight loss but haven't gained either despite earing too much over Christmas. Ankles seem OK but hands have been achy, skin sometimes itchy.

The main things have been the anxiety, feeling on edge and the racing heart.

I will contact my gp and ask for a blood test.

Yup definitely blood test time

My husband had all those symptoms when he was diagnosed. Had a blood test in the afternoon and was contacted by the GP the next morning. Please don’t delay seeking help.
