Bleeding after period has finished?

I posted this on the menopause board but have had no reply.

I'm 49. I've always had regular periods. My last period was a week late. My period appeared to finish. When I wipe after using the loo there has been blood on the toilet paper.

Do I need to make an appointment with the doctor or is this not something to be concerned about.

Have you honestly never had blood when wiping after finishing a period before or is it possible you just haven’t noticed? How long ago had it finished? Was it bright red blood or more brownish?

Peri causes all sorts of weird issues tbh.
I once had a full period 2 weeks after the previous one.

If it was a one off I wouldn’t speak to the Dr, if it happened the next couple of months I would maybe book a telephone consultation but I’m more a ‘watch and wait’ kind of person.

Having exactly the same thing. Period finished on day 5 which is early and then I had slight blood streaks for a week afterwards

I'm 50 and it's perimenopausal related. By all means, speak to a GP but given your age, id just keep an eye on it for now.

@OwlSoup @BeLessMe

I have 3 day periods about 28 day cycles. Might get a small bit of blood after it's ended as if it was in a corner of a pipe if you know what I mean.

My next period is due in a week and I'm still bleeding. Old blood not bright red. Never had anything like it before. Honestly it's scaring me a little.

Thank you for replying.

I used to get that. My period would stop and then nothing for one day and then brown blood smears the next for three more days.

I have fibroids. I imagine it’s just gunk stick behind them coming out. Hence it’s old and brown.

I’d go to the gp and ask them for advice as it does no harm to be on the safe side. Though I imagine lots of women get such symptoms.

Oh and I went to acupuncture to stop it. Which it did as it balanced my hormones better as they were crazy.

It's something you should get checked out at the doctors. Most likely it is the craziness that is/can be peri menopause for some women, but it could be something else more sinister and that should be ruled out.
