Oh my poor dd, she is nearly 4 and totally miserable, she has had a cold (as have the rest of us) but it has developed into an ear-ache and she seems to be in a lot of pain. Apart from Calpol is there anything I can do for her?

Antibiotics from the emergency doctor - you aren't going to get an appointment but maybe the out of hours service could help? A warm flannel on the side of the head sometimes helps - but don't get the ear wet.

Poor all of you

Has she got a temperature? I would take her to the doctor if no improvement by the morning, because she might have an infection that would require ab's to shift. Sure, might be viral, but worth checking just in case and ear ache is rotten.
Poor love.

Nurofen as well, to reduce inflammation ?

moodlumthehoodlum · 21/12/2007 18:03

Hot water bottle? DD has them all the time and just lying with her head on the warm hottie does really help her I think.

OH yes, nurofen infinitely superior IMO for earache. DD used to get it really badly when she was little, as did I.

CarmenerryChristmas · 21/12/2007 18:10

Oh God I really hope it is not an infection as we have to fly to Ireland on Sunday and that will NOT be fun. She has taken an irrational dislike to Neurofen but will take Calpol. I will try to apply heat and definitely go to out of hours doc tommorow if she is not better

We are both in bed and dsd is coming around as we won't see her before Christmas otherwise. Crap.

it must be a christmas thing cos i got up with ear infection today, tho I think mine has been brought on by the cold I had 2 weeks ago its played havoc with my sinuses.

Is there not a walk in centre you can take her to???

CremolaFirCone · 21/12/2007 18:30

we have all had it.I did nothing and it passed in about 4 days.just kept warm. drank fluids and sucked tunes.Dr said there was nothing he could do really as anti-biotics would probably not help.
