Cerazette - anyone else had problems with this contraceptive?

I started taking Cerazette after I had dd2 almost 4yrs ago. I had to go back on the pill because my periods were horrendous. I didn't want to go on a normal pill so went on to Cerazette which is a mini-pill.

I started on the pill and I had bleed after bleed - no breaks and it was really getting me down. The Dr suggested I took 2 pills per day, which is perfectly safe, and that stopped my periods altogether. This I did up until September when I decided to try going back down to 1 pill per day. I was fine until about a month ago when my boobs became extremely sore and then almost 2 weeks I started a period. I am still bleeding now although not at all heavy but still bleeding nevertheless. I saw my GP again during the week with my dd who was poorly and mentioned the situation with the pill to him and he told me to go back onto 2 pills per day and we'd review my options of what pills are around in the New Year.

Anyone else had problems with this pill? What bugs me is for years before I had dd2 I didn't go on the pill and had many years of normal very regular periods that only lasted 5 days!

I have had similar experience with Cerazette. Been on it for about 6 months and my periods are all over the place now. Only had 1 week in the last 6 when I have had no bleeding at all, rest of time light but always something. After 1st 3 months didn't have a period for 6 weeks and thought I was pregnant! Went on pill because my periods were getting heavier and more painful but I think I preferred that to this. At least they were regular and they only lasted 1 week! Now come off Cerazette after reading other experiences and seeing doctor next week for a different pill. Doctor really rated this pill but I don't

All "Mini-Pills" can cause Irregular periods and heavy bleeding.Just a question of finding one that suits you.

I have been on a few,and found one that I settled on after the first cycle where I had 2 bleeds in one month.I am sterilised now,so I can't remember which one ?Mercilon ?Marvelon etc. But you need to try a few IMO.

No problems here. I've been on Cerazette for 8 months now and have had no bleeding whatsover, so it seems to be working for me.

I had exactly the same experience as you! (Im fact I could have typed it ) but I was told by the FP nurse in our practice that it is not good to take 2 pills for a prolonged period. She said that you can with some pills but not with Cerazette and that it is a common mistake that a lot of GPs make. She told me to try taking 2 for two cycles to try to get things settled down and then go back to one. If that didn't work I was to go onto a different pill all together.

In the end I was not happy at all with the whole thing so put a different method into practice!

I have been on cerezette for a year now & the bleeding patterns didn't settle. Last month I experienced 3 periods in the space of 2 weeks, one of which started the morning I was due to go to London with my boyfriend for the weekend of my birthday! Enough was enough as it really got me down, so went to the doctor & asked for my pill to be changed. I have been prescribed micronor, which is another mini pill, and start it as soon as I finish this last pack of cerezatte. Really hoping I have a better experience on this one!

Erm yes - got a 4 month old DS despite taking it exactly as instructed! I didn't even know I was pregnant til about 12/13 weeks as continued to have bleeding, as I'd had since taking it.... My 'problem' is totally gorgeous though

Oh my goodness, WG, slight hiccup with the pill then?!! Was feeling quite secure on the pregnancy front as take my pills as instructed & was told it was very reliable!

Hi I am on this cerazette and been taking this for 3 months or so and it has not done anything. It us heavy at times then goes up and down like it doesn't know what it's doing think going to have to go back

stripycreature · 14/08/2017 14:12

I bled continuously on cerazette. Also bled for a year from 2 depo shots. I found that Micronor worked for me.

InDubiousBattle · 14/08/2017 14:21

I stopped taking it after day 23 of heavy bleeding.
