Suddenly acting out nightmares during sleep

In the past week I've suddenly started having very vivid nightmares, and have been woken by my DP because I've been crying and shouting in my sleep. I also kicked him, and I remember I was doing that I'm the dream.

I've never done this before (or at least not that I know of).

I've googled and none of the reasons make much sense, if anything I'm currently way less stressed than usual and although I take a lot of medication, none of it is new.

Has anyone else had this, and sis it escalate or just go away?

DS8 usually sleeps in my bed when we're at my house because his room is unbelievably stuffy but I'm worried I might kick him or scare him!

Your subconscious might be trying to warn you about something. Have you looked in to the symbolism of what is happening in the nightmares? This happened to me tonnes when I was in an abusive relationship, for several years. Looking back I think My mind was trying to tell me I was in danger and was triggering a fight or flight reaction. there were many times I woke up screaming or standing up and screaming, or just terrified and feeling like I wanted to “go home”, so I really feel for you. It’s scary and I hope it’s just a phase Flowers

There does seem to be a theme where I'm in hotel rooms and have lost my DS or can't find food, and a recurring one where a tidal wave hits and I'm trying to warn everyone aftee seeing what happened in the first dream.

There's also one where I'm living either in halls of residence or in mental hospital and I keep being moved around and having to cross strange obstacles to get to a new room, or not being able to find a bathroom with privacy 🤔

I think dreams are how we form memories from the info our brains are bombarded with during the day but I don't understand why I keep having these same themes - it just very odd.
