is it worth seeing GP? Not bleeding heavily and only lasts 4 days or so, but finding myself getting more and more tired, if it helps I'm 39 yrs old so could be peri-menopausal (mum had early menopause). What would/could GP do?

yes definitely go and see your GP - he will probably do a blood test and check you over in general, especially as you are very tired. It's always important to see your GP if you have a significant change in your cycle.

Can't offer any advice I'm afraid as I'm in a similar situation with my periods becoming ever more frequent. But then I am almost definitely peri-menopausal, being 48 - I didn't know that more frequent periods could be a symptom of that, I thought they should start tailing off rather than increasing. The gp can do a blood test to check your hormone levels to see if you are approaching an early menopause, so I think it would be worth going.

Worth seeing the Gp (as long as its not mine - he is awful). I've been having a 14 day cycle, 5-6 days long, heavy painful - am exhausted. GP put me back on the pill and I proceeded to bleed for 21 says straight. Went back to GP got some hormones to stop bleeding and 'advice' your pill doesn't seem to work anymore stop taking it. . . (WTF?!?!) I finally went back after begging lovely receptionist to recommend me a better dr in the practice. She was ace and put me onto a locum who I can only describe as GOD!!! He's put me on a pill which has different hormone levels on different days more like your natural cycle should be. Its called Logynon. If this doesn't work he has suggested Mirena Coil. Although I'm very sceptical about that one.
So go to GP - do not be fobbed off like I was for ages. There are options. If mine doesn't improve i'm going back and requesting (demanding?) a referal to a gynae.

Thanks, will wait and see if the next one is 17 days and then make an appointment (that will make it every 17 days for the last 3-4 months.)

chrissnow, I am contra indicated for the pill as I have had liver problems in the past. I'm not to keen on the coil either.
